Everyone has set up their own personal soapbox in their very own room and words filter in through the intercom and the person on a soapbox will argue against those words with the idea that they're debating a person. Never mind that the person has little ability to challenge these assertions. There's no comment threads in Tumblr where you can easily track responses (like on DA). So people are stuck arguing with an intercom that either ignores them completely or, on the off chance the OP realizes what's happening, starts debating them after the most egregious slander.
It's an isolating medium where community is incredibly difficult to parce out. It's become something like opposite-land Youtube: where people shock and troll by claiming you're the worst human being alive just to score imaginary points against no one whatsoever.
